AI still life photography

AI still life photography,
a set built around the product

AI still life photography means editorial images of the product on its own, composed like a magazine page: surfaces, props, light and mood built digitally around a real object. We make them for luxury, fragrance, jewelry and cosmetics brands, where every reflection and every material carries the positioning. The set doesn't exist, the product does: every image is checked against the original.

In short

  • Editorial still lifes for campaigns, homepages, advertising and launches
  • Set design with no set: stone, water, fabric, flowers, plinths and impossible scenes
  • Careful handling of glass, metal, gems, liquids and textures, fixed by hand or in CGI
  • One creative direction for the whole series, approved on a moodboard before production
  • From €20 per image, complex sets and CGI quoted per project, delivered in 5-10 days

Editorial still life,
not a packshot

A packshot shows the product so people can choose it. A still life stages it so people want it: a bottle on a wet block of travertine, a ring floating above a silk drape, a lipstick among loose pigments. It's the language of luxury ad pages and brand homepages.

In a traditional studio every set idea has a cost: props to rent, a set designer, test days to get water or smoke to behave. With AI the set is built digitally and can be changed until the composition is right, without starting over.

In a still life the product is never alone: what sits next to it defines it.

Where the difference shows
in AI still life photography

01

Glass and liquids

Base thickness, fill level, the label refracted through the glass. This is where AI gets it wrong most often.

02

Metals and reflections

Gold, silver, chrome and caps reflect their surroundings: reflections must match the set, not appear at random.

03

Gems and fine detail

Prongs, settings and stone count are checked against the real piece. See AI jewelry photography.

04

Cosmetic textures

Creams, powders and polishes with their real consistency and color. See AI beauty content.

05

Props and surfaces

Marble, wood, water, petals, sand, smoke: chosen for the brand, not to fill the frame.

06

Light

Backlight, raking light, hard or soft shadows: light sets the register, from clinical to sensual.

Fragrance, jewelry
and cosmetics

SectorWhat matters in the still lifeWhat we check
FragranceMood and olfactory notes translated into materials, colors and lightBottle shape, cap, juice level and color, screen print
Jewelry and watchesSparkle, scale, macro detailStones, metal finishes, dial, hands and indices

For fragrance, you'll find examples of the visual language in AI in fragrance. Our work includes V2 Fragrance & Cosmetics, for which we handled AI content and brand identity: see it in our portfolio.

When you still
need a photographer

AI still life works when the value is in the image: the mood, the composition, the idea. For a catalog of products on a neutral background there's a better fit, AI product photography for e-commerce.

When AI still life isn't the right choice

If the image has to document the exact piece, such as a unique gemstone, certified high jewelry or the precise color of a foundation shade customers use to choose, you need a real photo of the product. We can place it in an AI set, but the detail that serves as proof must stay photographed.

Questions about
AI still life photography

How much does an AI still life cost?

From €20 per image. Still lifes with complex sets, layered props or CGI product fixes are quoted per project, with an estimate within one working day.

Can AI render the glass and reflections of a perfume bottle?

Often, but not always on the first pass: glass, liquid and screen prints are the trickiest parts. We check them against the original and, when needed, fix them by hand or rebuild the bottle in 3D.

What's the difference between a still life and a packshot?

A packshot shows the product on a neutral background, identical across the series, for the product page. A still life stages it with props, surfaces and light for campaigns, homepages and advertising.

Can I use AI still life images in print and magazines?

Yes. We deliver high-resolution files for web and print and, where required, label AI-generated content in line with the EU AI Act transparency rules.

Do we need to ship you the product?

No: sharp photos from several angles, macro details, a vector logo and color codes are enough. If you're nearby, you can bring samples to our studio in Bergamo.
