FOOH CGI video
FOOH CGI video:
your product, giant, in the city
A FOOH CGI video puts your product, at an impossible size, inside a real city scene: a bottle crossing a square, a bag cruising past a landmark, a bottle of perfume leaning on a skyscraper. It is a format built for the feed with AI and CGI, and it only works if the product is perfect and the scene is believable. DigitalX Studio produces it in Bergamo, Italy, for brands worldwide, starting from the real product.
In short
- FOOH = fake out of home: billboards and installations that only exist on video
- Product built in 3D (Blender) and composited into city footage or generated scenes
- Premium AI + CGI video from €1,200, delivered in 2-3 weeks
- 9:16 master for Reels, TikTok and Shorts, plus 4:5 and 16:9 crops
- We disclose it as CGI: no "this really happened"
What it is
What a FOOH video is
and why it works on social
FOOH stands for fake (or faux) out of home: outdoor advertising that was never installed. The product appears at an impossible scale inside a real place, shot as if it were phone footage or a documentary frame. One of the most cited examples is Jacquemus's Le Bambino bags "driving" through Paris, a few-second 3D clip posted in April 2023 (source PAPER).
It works on social for three reasons: it stops the scroll in the first seconds, the product sits at the center of the frame, and the "is this real?" question drives comments and shares. That is also the delicate part: the surprise has to come from the idea, not from deception.
Workflow
How we produce a FOOH
with AI and CGI
01
Idea and place
We choose the action (the product arrives, opens, interacts with the city) and the type of place: a square, a station, a seafront, a recognizable building.
02
Base footage
We start from licensed real footage or an AI-generated scene, depending on the realism and rights you need.
03
Product in 3D
The product is modeled in Blender from photos, samples or CAD files, with materials, logo and label true to the real one. See AI CGI product renders.
04
Compositing
Camera tracking, plus light, shadows and reflections matched to the scene; AI helps with environments, crowds and details.
05
Sound and delivery
Sound design and editing in DaVinci Resolve, then a vertical master and crops for every platform.
Transparency
FOOH yes, fake news no:
disclosing the CGI
A FOOH is a creative work, not a news report. We never write captions like "this really happened in Milan", and we always recommend disclosing that it is CGI, in the post or in the video. There is a legal side too: the EU AI Act sets transparency duties for AI-generated or manipulated content that could pass as authentic, with lighter rules for evidently creative or fictional works (source EUR-Lex, Art. 50). We cover it in AI Act and labeling AI content.
Two more checks: some landmarks and buildings carry restrictions on commercial use, and people in real footage must be unidentifiable or released. We go through both with you before production starts.
Pricing
How much does
a FOOH video cost
| Project | What's included | Price |
|---|---|---|
| Single FOOH | One 3D product, one city scene, 10-20 seconds, 9:16 master + crops | from €1,200 |
| Multi-scene FOOH | Several places or product actions, 30-40 seconds | quoted per project |
| Launch series | Teasers and variants for different cities or markets | quoted per project |
Price depends mostly on product complexity (glass, liquids and fabrics take more work) and the number of shots. You get an estimate within one working day. For other formats see AI video for brands and how much does an AI video cost.
Limits
When you don't
need a FOOH
FOOH is an attention format: great for launches, collaborations and events, less suited to explaining a product. If you need to show how it works, what's inside or why it costs what it costs, an AI product video does more.
When FOOH isn't the right choice
If the brand needs a real installation to photograph, an event with people, or actual press coverage, a FOOH won't replace it, and passing it off as real is a reputational risk. The same goes for products that lose their recognizable shape at giant scale: then we'll suggest another format.
FAQ
Questions about
FOOH videos
What does FOOH mean?
FOOH means fake (or faux) out of home: a video where a product or advertising installation appears in a real place, often at giant scale, but is made in CGI and doesn't physically exist.
How much does a FOOH CGI video cost?
A single FOOH with one 3D product and one city scene starts at €1,200. Projects with more scenes, cities or variants get a dedicated quote within one working day.
Do you have to say a FOOH video is fake?
We always recommend disclosing it as CGI. The EU AI Act sets transparency duties for generated or manipulated content that could look authentic, with lighter rules for clearly creative works. We never present a FOOH as a real event.
Can you use a famous city or landmark?
Often yes, but some places and buildings have restrictions on commercial use. We check location, base footage and visible people with you before production starts.
How long does a FOOH video take?
On average 2-3 weeks from approved concept, including 3D modeling of the product and one full revision round.
